The Bible uses natural ground as an illustration
to represent the hearts of mankind. Jesus said
the Word of God is like seeds to be sown and
cultivated in that “ground”.
As soon as babies are born, “seeds” of one kind
or another are beginning to become a part of
them. Parents have an awesome responsibility
(of which many are unaware) for what they
allow to be planted in their children!
If the Word of God is not profusely sown in them,
they become like “uncultivated ground” that
produces thorns and thistles.
Our Eternity depends on the condition of our
hearts. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection,
our lives can be cleansed from unrighteousness
and the “Good Seed of His Word” can flourish and
produce the fruit of righteousness in the “ground”
which He renews!
As we allow His Spirit to influence more and more
of our living–our uncultivated portions become
a part of God’s Kingdom that He has begun in us.
In the course of our living we must often evaluate
how much of our lives is bringing forth His “fruit”.
Only that portion–will count when we see Him!
(Prayer of David—Ps. 139:23-24)
“Search me, O God, and know my heart….
and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Hosea 10:12
“Sow for yourselves righteousness,
Reap in mercy, Break up your follow ground,
For it is time to seek The LORD,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”
