Elijah prayed earnestly that it would not
rain–and rain ceased! After three and a half
years of drought, he prayed again and the
heavens poured down rain!
The Bible’s comment in James 5:16 is “The
effective fervent prayer of a righteous man
avails much.” It also explains that Elijah had
a nature like ours–lest we would discount
our own ability to pray effectively!
When we annualize his prayers, we find they
were: according to God’s will–not casual–
and were filled with expectancy (so much so
that as he prayed he sent his servant seven
times to look for a sign of the answer). He
expected the prayer to have an effect!
Our prayers are not just to be a casual list of
recited needs without expectancy, but rather
a fervent praying in the Spirit with the under-
standing that this prayer is having an effect
immediately before God’s throne–whether
the answer is in our range of sight or not!
Each petition presented thus, can cause us to
experience the intense joy of knowing we are
joining with The Lord in the advancement of
His Kingdom from day to day!
(Prayer)
May we realize the effectiveness of uniting
with God for His will to be done on earth
as it is in heaven!
1 John 5:14
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him,
that if we ask anything according to His will,
He hears us.”
