The Bible tells us the story of Samuel who
did not recognize the Voice of the Lord until
Eli instructed him to say “Speak, Lord, for
Your servant hears”. 1 Sam. 3:9
Jesus said His sheep hear His Voice—but how
many of us do not always discern the Voice
of Our Lord? The Scriptures declare that He
speaks—but do we hear?
Our own desires are not necessarily the will
of God. Jeremiah 10:23 tells us that it is not
in man to direct his own steps!
The surrounding culture shouts for us to be
molded according to their desires, however
Jesus said “Can the blind lead the blind? Will
they not both fall into the ditch? Luke 6:39
How does God speak to us? He allowed Elijah
to experience an earthquake, and a fire, but
afterward His message came in “a still small
voice”. The 23rd Psalm says that the Shepherd
leads in green pastures–beside still waters.
As we quiet ourselves from the surrounding
clamor, waiting before Our Lord, asking to
know His will concerning our steps—He will
bring to our minds and hearts His word for us.
The reward of asking—listening—and receiving
is of greater value to our lives than gold!
(Prayer)
May we realize our righteous living depends
on “hearing Your Voice”
Romans 8:14
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God
these are the sons of God.”
