In times past, nomadic people have dwelt in small tents.
Considering the rooms of our present day homes, a tent
would be quite confining—a very limited space into
which not many possessions or people could be placed.
In the spaciousness where we abide and in the multitude
of opportunities to function in the world around us, how
much of our days and ways are offered to the Lord for
His habitation?
His word to us is: “In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your paths.” (Pro. 3:6) Do we present
to Him a very small portion of our lives when He desires
to occupy all our ways? Do we place Him in a “corner”
when He would function in the “whole”?
We have a New Year before us. How much of the coming
year will be given to His jurisdiction and how much will
we retain for our own possession? Who can best direct
the intricate decisions to be made and the exact places
our feet are placed? Who has enough righteousness,
peace, and joy to saturate our entire living?
(Prayer)
Lord, May we enlarge Your portion of our lives
to encompass the whole, as we understand that
You alone know how our lives should be lived!
Isaiah 54:2
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and
let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare; lengthen your cords,
and strengthen your stakes.”
